Klondike Gold Rush Lesson Plan


On this day in 1896, George Washington Carmack discovered gold in the Klondike region of the Yukon at Bonanza Creek.  During the following year, more than 30,000 people joined the gold rush to the area.


The Klondike is in Alaska. Color in this map of Alaska.
