Mark McGwire became baseball’s homerun king in 1998 after hitting 70 homeruns in one season. His 70th homerun ball sold the next year for just over $3 million. Babe Ruth, an earlier home run king, hit 60 homeruns in 1927. His homerun ball was donated to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
